Auxiliary President's Message

Hi All,

It has been a busy time for the Unit with our annual Gift Auction, and the Spring Flea Market. "THANK YOU" CAROL AND PAULA, a lot of work goes into planning and organizing these events. I also want to thank everyone who helped to make these events a great success.

The Unit has been going to local nursing homes in the area and visiting with veteran residents and enjoying lively discussions and trivia games. Thanks to a Post member we has been giving blankets to the residents with their respective branch of service incorporated in the design. They love them.

We are hoping to set up a collection bin for the tabs from cans, i.e. soda, soup, fruit, and yes even beer to bring to Ronald McDonald house. Also the box for the cell phones will be available for collection.

Two members brought tabs to Ronald McDonald house in Long Branch and cell phones to the Toms River Armory.

The tabs will be recycled and the proceeds will be used to help provide a "home away from home" for families with seriously ill children.  The cell phones will be recycled and a $10 telephone gift card will be sent to deployed soldiers.

Also in April members of both the Auxiliary and Legion attended the testimonial dinner for Department President Juli Jandik held at Picatinny Arsenal. A nice time was had by all.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to making this y a successful one for all.  As I stated at our first meeting you would be hearing, "PLEASE and THANK YOU" a lot this year and you did.  I am sincerely grateful for all your help. "THANK YOU"    :)

Congratulations to all the newly elected officers of the Unit, Legion, SAL and Riders.

For God and Country

Jane Keeley, President

 American Legion Auxiliary

In this world of ours, the American Legion Auxiliary shines as an example of unselfish giving. With almost a million members from all walks of life, the Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to most Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

The Auxiliary, organized in 1919 to assist The American Legion, is much more than the name implies. The organization has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary's interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest women's patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 Units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals
